I nuovi chipset progettati dalla casa statunitense saranno perfettamente compatibili con i processori Intel di 11 generazione, denominati Rocket Lake-S, grazie alla presenza del socket LGA 1200 già presente sulle schede madri con chipset della precedente serie 400. Questi processori sono i primi dell’azienda di Santa Clara a introdurre il supporto nativo all’interfaccia PCI-E 4.0, offrendo un totale 20 linee PCI-E 4.0 (solo CPU). Tra le novità c’è anche il supporto nativo per memorie DDR4 3200. I processori Core 11a gen Rocket Lake-S si differenziano dai Core 10a gen anche per la configurazione dei core: il nuovo modello flagship Core i9-11900K offre 8 core/16 thread, 2 core in meno rispetto alla precedente generazione Comet Lake-S (il top di gamma Core i9-10900K offriva 10 core/20 thread). Per quanto riguarda la frequenze, il clock base scende da 3,7 a 3,5 GHz, mentre rimangono invariate le frequenze Boost che arrivano a 5,3 GHz (single core con Intel Thermal Velocity Boost) con TDP sempre impostato a 125W. Sul fronte grafica integrata i processori Intel Rocket Lake-S saranno i primi modelli desktop ad utilizzare l’architettura GPU Iris Xe, che riusciranno a garantire un incremento prestazionale rispetto ai Comet Lake-S e alla grafica Intel UHD Graphics 630 fino al 50%. I modelli Rocket Lake-S montano le iGPU Intel UHD 750 e UHD 730. Chipset Intel serie 500 per sistemi desktop La lineup prevede, in ordine di prestazioni e funzionalità, i chipset Intel Z590, H570, B560 e H510. Sono molte le novità introdotte, perfettamente compatibili con le CPU Intel Rocket Lake-S, tra le quali la possibilità di overclock della memoria anche sui chipset H570 e B560, assente sui prodotti equivalenti della linea 400. Inoltre, come già accennato, una delle grandi novità introdotte da Rocket Lake sarà il supporto all’interfaccia PCI Express 4.0.
